Spartans' Allen to miss Big Ten tourney opener

03/09/2010 - Detroit, MI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Michigan State junior guard Chris Allen has been suspended and will miss the Spartans' Big Ten Tournament opener on Friday.
The Detroit Free Press reported that Allen was held out of practice on Tuesday and suspended by head coach Tom Izzo for what he termed a non-specific violation of team rules.
The paper also said that Izzo and his coaching staff will determine later this week if Allen will rejoin the team should the Spartans win their first contest.
Michigan State, which finished 24-7 this season, is set to square off against the winner of Thursday's Penn State-Minnesota tilt in Indianapolis.
Allen is MSU's fifth-leading scorer at 9.1 points per game.
